Obituary

Evelyn "Evie" Ann Gravatt Off, 85, of Linwood, NJ entered into rest on Tuesday September 12, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 22, 1931 in Atlantic City, NJ she was the daughter of the late Atlantic City Boardwalk mogul Frank P. and Flora (Somers) Gravatt. She was the loving and devoted wife of Frank Scott Off with whom she spent 65 blissful years of marriage.

Evelyn attended Ventnor public elementary school before going to Atlantic City Friends School from which she graduated. Following her high school graduation she furthered her education at Centenary Junior College and while attending made the Dean's List. Upon graduation from college Evelyn became engaged to Frank Scott Off getting married that same year in 1951. On their first anniversary Frank was drafted during the Korean War and Evelyn traveled with him to Virginia, Texas, and finally war torn Germany. She left Germany in her pregnancy, not wanting her first child to be born overseas.

Her many interests centered on family, church, charities and decorating. With her close friends she found an interest in antiques, which continued throughout her life. She was a member of Ventnor Trinity Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for more than 25 years. She was a member of the Atlantic City Country Club. Evelyn was an extremely dedicated and hardworking member of Charity League, Child Federation, and Children's Seashore House. She also volunteered her time at the Atlantic City Soup Kitchen. Because of an early childhood illness she was prevented from participating in sports at a young age. However, in later years she was captain of the basketball team for Atlantic City Friends High School and was an avid water skier and snow skier. She loved to dance and socialize with her friends. She will be greatly missed, never forgotten and always loved.

Evelyn will be fondly remembered by her husband; Frank Scott Off of Linwood, NJ, son; Roger (Beth Ann) Scott Off of Kissimmee, FL, daughter; Vicki (Cary) Ann Monroe of Ventnor, NJ, son; Craig (Debbie) Douglas of Egg harbor Twp, NJ, six grandchildren; Tiffany, Chelsea, Matthew, Shane, Craig Scott, Bryce, two great-grandchildren; Leighton, Cataleya, former daughter-in-law; Marcie Off, brother-in-law; Louis Scott Off of Savannah, GA, sister-in-law Roberta Fetter of Hilton Head, SC and many cousins. In addition to her parents Evelyn was predeceased by her brother-in-laws; George Allen Off and Robert Scott Off.
